The Digital Product Management Course

What is it?

Digital Product Management is a four week course that covers the fundamentals of managing a product (with a focus on digital). It deals with both new and existing products and various types of product management, both titular and non-titular.

Why would I want it?

First, product management (in digital) is still what most people would call an emerging discipline. I don’t claim that this course has everything (because that changes), but I will say that I think it’s pretty solid foundation material in what matters right now.

What will I be able to do after I finish?

Beyond just understanding the fundamentals, you’ll have practiced:

  1. Conducting user discovery to make sure you’re building something someone wantsCreate the actionable focus to successfully manage your product (week 1)
  2. Focus your work using modern product management methods (week 2)
  3. Manage new products and explore new product ideas (week 3)
  4. Manage and amplify existing products (week 4)

How does it work?

Basically, you enroll in a self-paced course where you watch videos, read references, take quizzes, and (for the big stuff) complete peer-reviewed assignments.

How much does it cost?

You can audit for free. If you want to do the quizzes and get a certificate you can post to LinkedIn, etc., you need to enroll. The price for enrollment changes periodically, but I believe right now it’s priced at $49USD/month.

What is the particular focus of this course?

The course is really focused on two related subjects: a) a disciplined process to deliver tested/validated learning about what’s valuable to the customer and b) creating focus around that and delivering it in the right way across functional disciplines (engineering vs. sales vs. support, etc.).
